I have been waiting for quite some time for Ryan to finally move out of the house and a week and a half ago the big day finally arrived. A few staff showed up to my house and within 10 minutes he was gone.
Yeah, of course I'm not talking about Ryan himself moving out - just his home office. My "office" is my dining room table where I actually do a lot of computer work for the ministry (and blogging), but my home is where I work and I don't like to share my space while I'm working! When we moved here Ryan officed at home all day every day. Then, right before Nate was born he started keeping office hours on the World Impact campus most days and he would just take his laptop back and forth but all his resources and things were still at home. Then (for reasons I don't understand :) he began putting his laptop on the dining room table with mine when he came home from work. Remember: the dining room is my office and I don't like to share my space.
With the total renovation of one of the buildings on our campus, five people moved to new offices and three were moved from home offices onto campus making previously occupied space now available and Ryan finally got his bookshelves, desk, chair...GONE from my space.
This was all during the few weeks that Nate wasn't sleeping so I had trouble getting started on ideas for decorating our new playroom, but last Thursday it came together and I started my weekend project. I started taping Friday around 8am and finished the last bit (almost) Sunday at 10pm. There were errands and meals and relaxing in there too, but it was a fun-filled playroom makeover weekend at our house. Check it out...
Here is where I started - my inspiration. I found this ladybug room online and loved the green and red. Then, I liked the alphabet board idea, the fun words, the splat clock and lantern lights.

Here is how I translated all those things.
Playroom complete with art center, blocks/cars rug, pretend area and library and a comfy futon for adult seating! The splat clock is on order and will go in the blank space above the shelves. I haven't decided on lighting so for now we use our two tall lamps but they could be disastrous with a crawler on the loose! There is no overhead lighting in this room.

Library.
The brown rocking chair was in our living room and Ben never used it. Now, he sits and "reads" a book by himself at least once a day in that chair in his library! I love it.

Instead of the alphabet board I made my own word search with foam board and some paint! I put 11 words in there. Can you find them all?

The pretend area - the place Ben and Nate spend a lot of their play time. They both play in the kitchen and Ben loves sweeping and mopping and Nate loves the iron. I love that it all hangs back up when we are done!

There is a blank wall above the futon where I am thinking of putting those word decals. I just haven't quite figured out how I want to do it!
Come over and play with us sometime!
