The Truth about Nate

My last post was all about the sweetness that is my little 8 month old chunky baby. But, that isn't really the whole truth.

Right about the time he turned 8 months he went on a sleeping strike. He was and still is maybe napping an hour a day (and even that usually takes a lot of effort to get him down) and waking 2-3 times at night (which he hasn't done since he was about 8 weeks old).

I remember Ben doing this same thing and I added more food during the day and Ben's sleep problems went away. I have tried to get Nate to eat more and he just isn't interested. He is happy to nurse during the night when he wakes and actually acts as if he is starving, but he is not at all interested in more solids (or nursing) during the day.

His solids intake can vary from day to day too. Some meals he will eat 8 ounces, others only 4 ounces. He is so unpredictable.

We keep checking his mouth because he still has only a gummy smile, but we don't see anything yet. He is a thumb sucker so it is hard to tell if he is putting his fingers to his mouth more or not. He does have a slightly runny nose and I desperately hope it is due to teething and we will see white pop out soon and our sleep problems will be over!

With him not sleeping well, I am not sleeping well. And when I don't have enough sleep it makes for long days (or a cranky mom). I'm sure many of you can sympathize so while you do, please say a prayer for me and Nate (and Ryan and Ben that have to live with us)! Pray that I would have wisdom in how to help Nate get more sleep, pray that he would indeed sleep and pray that I could have the patience to deal with it all and not take it all out on Ben and Ryan!
